Found
in some change I received t
his evening (
look towards the bottom
)
. I’m an avid collector of Wheat Cent pennies (
as in, I save every one I receive as change
), but I’ve never found one of these before.

I haven’t seen one of those in a very long time. As for me, I hoard every Bicentennial quarter that I come across, as well as any quarter from my birth year (1966).

super cool - just 4 months after the first production Model T... (H ad someone thrown a T into a corner in full oppositelock by that point? I’ll bet so.)

Wow, that’s neat!

I’ve seen plenty of wheats, but I didn’t know anything about the VDB variant! You have one of 484,000 27,995,000! It’s the S variant that’s the smaller count. Whoops.

I think that would be the S variant struck at the San Francisco mint, right? This would be from the Philly mint, but still a cool find.

I used to have six steel pennies. When I was 9, my brother’s friend stole my entire coin collection :(

Funny. I grab all the bicentennials I can, too!

Aw, dang. You’re right. His is one of 27,995,000. Still super-neat.

Pretty good detail in the wheat ears, someone pilfered that out of a collection. Too bad it isn’t an S mint.

A couple months ago I go t an Indian head cent in change. That was a first for me.

That’s a pretty serious penny!

An interesting year for sure, the first running of the Indy 500!

Yep, this one isn’t the S variant. Still very neat though.

I usually average 2-3 wheat cents a year. Never a V.D.B. though.
I also save every Bicentennial quarters that I find.

That’s unfortunate.
I have a steel penny, too, but it was purchased rather than found.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Most of my early-dated finds are in worse shape. An S would have been an outstanding find!

That’s cool! Weirdest one for me was the time I got a 1 Pfennig ( ‘20s or ‘30s, I forget ) as change a few years ago. I’m still trying to figure that one out! This was in the US, by the way!

Don’t have any interesting pennies but I have plenty of old coins.I also have a few dead currencies like some Shillings, a 1960 Franc, and some other pre-Euro ones.

YAS, that’s a nice one.

I’ve got a bicentennial ha lf-dollar.

Intriguing. I wonder if I have any VDB variants?

I still remember clearly the first one I ever saw.

I thought I did too, but only regular ones. Bummer. I used to have a Bicentennial silver dollar, too. No idea where that is now.

I have gone fairly cashless, and only find a wheatie every other year or so, same for pre-1960 nickels. Rarely a penny before 1950. Amazing find.
